Europe Needs a Cloud of Its Own - and the Freedom to Choose

Cloud infrastructure is easy to ignore while an AI project is still a demo. It becomes harder to ignore once the system handles company data, influences decisions and has to be available every morning.

Then the question of where it runs reaches the management floor.

PANTA has joined the OVHcloud Startup Program. Through the program, we work with OVHcloud infrastructure and have access to its technical teams. For us, this is the start of a closer partnership - and another serious European hosting option for PANTA OS customers.

The debate around European cloud infrastructure has matured. It is no longer driven only by regulation. Boards are also looking at concentration risk, contractual control and their ability to change course later. Where does the data sit? Which law applies? Can a workload move without rebuilding the whole system?

OVHcloud has spent years answering such questions at scale. The French company operates 46 data centers and around 500,000 servers. Its customers range from smaller businesses to large enterprises and public institutions. European ownership and European jurisdiction are part of the picture. So are open standards and reversibility.

That makes OVHcloud valuable. It does not make it the universal answer.

Most large companies already live in a mixed technology world. Core systems may run on an American hyperscaler. A regional team may use an Asian provider or model. Sensitive workloads may stay on company premises. Acquisitions add more systems rather than fewer.

PANTA OS is designed to work across this reality. For many customer deployments, Microsoft Azure in EU regions remains our standard environment. We also support on-premises operation and other cloud platforms. OVHcloud widens this portfolio; it does not narrow it.

A customer may run a defined PANTA OS environment on OVHcloud. Another may use it for the European part of a hybrid architecture while established workloads stay where they are. The right choice depends on the data, the organization and the job the system has to do.

This is the useful meaning of digital sovereignty: keeping room to decide.

Sovereignty becomes real when an organization knows which provider performs which task, can separate workloads and retains credible alternatives. A European cloud is part of that architecture. It should give companies more freedom, not another doctrine to follow.

The OVHcloud Startup Program gives us a practical setting in which to develop this option. We learn the platform through real work and can draw on the people who built it. PANTA contributes experience from enterprise AI projects in which governance, models, data sources and business processes have to work across different environments.

Customers should notice the partnership in one place above all: the quality of their choices. Those with a clear European requirement gain an experienced provider with enterprise scale. Those pursuing a hybrid strategy gain another strong component. Nobody has to move a system that already serves them well simply to fit a partnership narrative.

Europe needs infrastructure companies that can carry demanding workloads. It also needs companies confident enough to choose technology from around the world when it is the better fit.

OVHcloud gives our customers another credible European answer. That is precisely why we are pleased to have them as a partner.
